Addon domain name is a feature provided by cpanel that allow you to add domain name to your hosting account, and create a domain storage space to host the website online. It allow you to host multiple websites, having second third and many other domain hosted beside the primary domain name.
When you signup for hostgator hosting, your new hosting account is created with a primary domain name, and this domain name is located at directory “public_html/”.
When you want to add addon domain name to your account, you need to make sure the domain DNS already point to hostgator DNS in order to process, and use the cpanel addon domain feature to create new addon domain. When you doing so, a new domain storage or directory being created under the “public_html/” folder.
For example you name your addon domain “domain1″… its storage directory will be located directly at “public_html/domain1/”… FTP upload all your addon domain’s files here, here is the storage for domain1. And this domain1 will goes online as individual website.
