After sign up Hostgator hosting for sometime, now i come across the need to register a new domain name, and hopefully from hostgator itself. So that the domain name is attached here, easy for future maintenance work of mine. I found out that the domain pricing is $15 per domain per year. wow.. thats bit expensive i can say. But wait, i digg deeper and found out that its bit different in quality and sense of greater reliability. Why? here is there answer from Hostgator:
“Most companies offer customers one or two domain servers — one main server, and one for backup. When you register your domain name with hostgator, your domain name is backed by six servers distributed around the U.S. The result? Superior connectivity and reliability.”
This result in greater site visibility, reliability, and more reachable. Trouble with DNS and people can’t find your website is cut to minimum. Guess this makes the $15 worth it. Whats the point of paying $9 when the dns is so weak, and causing downtime most the time, right!
How to purchase domain name from Hostgator? Great, host gator not putting this link for easy access from their homepage, i browse here and there, and still can’t find it. Finally i found this at their knowledgebase, http://www.hostgator.com/domains . Go to this website, and order your new domain name from Hostgator hosting.
Respective domain name pricing from hostgator are:
| .COM | $15.00 /yr |
| .ORG | $15.00 /yr |
| .NET | $15.00 /yr |
| .BIZ | $19.95 /yr |
| .INFO | $19.95 /yr |

Thanks for the info! You are right, Hostgator doesn’t make it easy to find where to upgrade to add a domain. I do want to use them for purchase due to the ease and reliability.
